Valeria Cruz Blancas, Knowledge Management Specialist

Valeria Cruz Blancas is a specialist in high-level policy and advocacy with over 20 years of experience in analysis and research. She joined the GCF Task Force team in March 2020 and leads the Secretariat’s engagement on Knowledge Management for the Climate Pathways Project, which supports state and regional governments for their long-term GHE reductions in collaboration with business and local communities. Prior to joining the GCF Task Force, Valeria worked for international institutions and organizations including the World Wildlife Found (WWF) and The Global Legislators Organization (GLOBE). For the past decade, Valeria has focused on the multilateral cooperation policy environment, climate change, biodiversity and development. She has served as Mexico’s delegate to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and its Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA), performing functions such as: government advisor, negotiator, delegation Technical Secretary and representative of the Mexican Alliance for Biodiversity (AMB)—made up of over 20 NGOs. With a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Valeria enhanced her interdisciplinary education by earning a full-time scholarship and graduating with honors from The National Autonomous University of Mexico at the International Relations Studies Master affiliated to the National Quality Postgraduate Program of the National Council for Science and Technology. In the meantime, she was invited to participate as part of the founding team for the University Network on Climate Change under the Climate Change Research Program. With an international heart and vision, she loves traveling all around the globe and getting to know cultures and places—but, above all, to truly know people.
