Peru Adopts National Climate Change Plan

In July, the Peruvian Agricultural and Environmental Ministry solidified La Estrategia Nacional sobre Bosques y Cambio Climático, a plan that has engaged indigenous communities, civil society, and local governments to put Peru on the path to reducing deforestation, thereby reducing greenhouse gases. This multi-pronged approach will also look to incentivize both private companies and small-scale farmers to alter their land use management practices in order to curtail the rapid deforestation resulting in the loss of nearly 300,000 acres of forests annually.
